Dual flight sim mount: overview

This dual HOTAS mount turns a NexusRig Compact racing cockpit into a flight simulator. It adds two rigid, adjustable platforms to the cockpit side arms, so you can put a joystick, throttle quadrant or yoke exactly where your hands fall, and keep it locked in place through long flights.

Because it is a dual system you can build real cockpit layouts: stick on one side and throttle on the other, a pair of joysticks for space sims, a yoke with throttle quadrant, or a throttle with a collective-style setup for helicopters.

It suits Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, Prepar3D and DCS World, for airliners, general aviation, helicopters and combat flying.

Mounting on aluminium profile rigs

The 8 mm slot standard. Most modern sim rigs use 40 mm-based aluminium extrusion (40x40, 40x80, 40x160) with 8 mm slots. Mounts fix with M8 bolts and T-nuts that slide into the slot, so they can be moved and re-angled at any time.

Rigidity and access. Mount heavy or high-force devices (handbrakes, shifters, wheel bases) as close to a vertical upright or cross member as possible. Leave room to get in and out of the seat.

Tools. A set of hex keys (mainly 6 mm for M8) covers nearly every mount. Snug every bolt, test, then do a final tightening once the position is right.

Setup and use

1. Fit the two mounts to the NexusRig Compact side arms.
2. Attach your joystick, throttle or yoke to the mount plates.
3. Sit in and adjust height and reach until your arms rest naturally.
4. Tighten all fixings and calibrate the controls in your simulator.

Care and maintenance

Check the fixings after the first flights and from time to time. Route control cables along the side arms so they do not snag when you get in and out.

Returns
