Building a 360° camera support rig

Why 360° supports are different. A 360° camera sees everything around it, including the tripod. Good 360° supports are therefore thin, low-profile and placed directly under the lenses, so the support falls into the nadir (the blind spot below the camera) and can be patched out easily in editing.

Base + pole is the usual combination. A small, low tripod base keeps the legs out of frame, and an extension pole lifts the camera to eye level (about 150–170 cm) or higher for overviews.
